This one's for Al! ;) Here are the results of the first "real" attempt at load development for the RimRock actioned, PacNor barreled 25BR, which was stocked by Mike Bigelow and smithed by "Humble Henry" Rivers. Having muddled about only during a registered group tournament (a poor choice of timing for load development!), it became clear that I'd have to invest a day off doing some tuning . . . pleasing results were obtained with both Hodgdon BenchMark and Brigadier 3032 . . . the snake and the mongoose may be in for a rumble! ;) THis pic is pretty close to actual size - the lower groups are merely 3-shot affairs; the upper left is a 5-shot deal, done to confirm the scans at the lower charge weight . . . the extra 0.5 Gr. held up well, as did a subsequent 0.5 Gr. increase! :) I had forgotten to load the wind-flag vanes, so was forced to just shoot using mirage and feel - at these powder charge weights, the 25 seems to have wanted to "cut" the conditions. Oh, the 0.017" 'jam-seat' length was the result of 'eyeballing' a loaded round inserted into the barrel stub/ head-space comparator . . . it was measured when I got home - yet another lesson is using electronic devices (in this instance a caliper) and not carrying extra batteries! ;) RG
